Italian Through Drama

Do you love studying Italian, but your mind gets blank when you speak? Do you feel embarrassed when listening to the sound of your voice and your pronunciation? If you would like to feel more confident and develop high communicative skills, then you should consider learning Italian through Drama. Drama helps to build your self-confidence when you speak in Italian and it will noticeably improve your pronunciation. During the lessons, you will be learning voice projection and intonation. Learn how professional actors memorise their lines and properly use vocabularies and expressions.

Even though grammatical analysis of the language is included, this won’t be a traditional class, you will focus on building your self-confidence through different, dynamic and fun communicative activities. It is just a different way to learn, and experience in drama is not necessary.

Language is never presented out of context and grammar, phonology, lexis and all other features of actual language use in everyday situations are analysed.

A wide variety of up-to-date authentic material is used in class, thus giving students valuable information about modern-day Italian culture and society at the same time as developing students’ authentic linguistic and communicative skills.

This course is designed for Intermediate and Advanced students of Italian. The course is aimed at students who wish to expand and improve their speaking, reading and listening skills by participating in and discussing selected role plays. The course will help students expand and strengthen their knowledge of the Italian language and culture.

The teacher will use a variety of short movies and plays extracts to initiate discussions on selected parts, the students will also develop a critical outlook and a better understanding of the Italian culture embedded in society.  Although all four language skills like listening, speaking, reading and writing will be practiced, the main emphasis will be on speaking.
