The Dante Alighieri Society of WA is proud to present

2024 PROGRAM

This year’s screenings will take place in various locations, and the selected titles will aim to celebrate Italian national events or other cultural projects that the Society will organize in collaboration with other institutions. Cineforum Dante wishes to express gratitude to the Italian Consulate in Perth, the Italian Department of the University of Western Australia, and the Fremantle section of ANFE for participating in our 2024 program and providing support to the events.

Calendar for 2024:

27th  February – “Toto’, Peppino e la malafemmina” (1956) by C. Mastrocinque

This event is a collaboration with A.N.F.E. Fremantle and will take place on the premises of the Italian Club (65 Marine Terrace). Screening starts at 7.00 pm and there is an entry ticket of $ 10 inclusive of tea and coffee during the interval.

21st March – “DANTE” (2022) by Pupi Avati

The event is in collaboration with the University of Western Australia and the Italian Consulate. Screening starts at 6.00 pm at the UWA Campus (Social Sciences Lecture Theatre) and this is a FREE EVENT.

23rd  April – “Le quattro giornate di Napoli” (1962) by Nanni Loy 

Directed by Nanni  Loy (1962) with Gian Maria Volontè, Lea Massari, Anna Maria Ferrero, Jean Sorel, Regina Bianchi, Luigi De Filippo, Aldo Giuffrè, Pupella Maggio.

This movie will commemorate Italian Liberation Day (25th April). Screening will start at 6.00 pm at UWA Campus (Ross Lecture Theatre – G.41 – Physics Building).

This is a FREE EVENT. No booking is necessary.

14th June – “C’eravamo tanto amati” (1974) by Ettore Scola 

By Ettore Scola, starring Nino Manfredi, Vittorio Gassman, Stefania Sandrelli, Stefano Satta Flores, Giovanna Ralli, and Aldo Fabrizi.

This movie will commemorate Italian National Day / “Festa della Repubblica” (2nd June). Screening will start at 6.00 pm at UWA Campus (Ross Lecture Theatre – G.41 – Physics Building).

This is a FREE EVENT.

August (date to be confirmed) –

“I magliari” (1959) by Francesco Rosi

This movie will commemorate the Day of the Sacrifice of Italian Workers in the World (8th August).

Screening will start at 6.00 pm at the Ross Lecture Theatre (Physics) Uwa  Campus. This is a FREE EVENT.

11th September“Questa e’ la vita” (1951) by Mario Soldati, Luigi Zampa et al. 

The movie is composed of four episodes adapted from Luigi Pirandello’s short stories. The event is in collaboration with the University of Western Australia and screening will start at UWA Campus at 6.00 pm.  This is a FREE EVENT

week 14 – 20 OctoberItalian Language Week (date, venue and movie to be decided)

The event is in collaboration with the Italian Consulate and the University of Western Australia.

 

19th NovemberGuardie e ladri” (1951) by M. Monicelli & Steno
